Ordering Windows: There are many variables to consider when order racing windows, Clear 1 utilizes NAGS (National Auto Glass Specifications) standards for sizing of all components. Please consider the following when placing your order:
Windshields / Rear Windows: Grade of thickness will vary by sanctioning body, please confirm thickness requirements or call us for assistance. Most front or rear windows in 1/8” will cold form during installation and can utilize flat material. Please verify part size needed by measuring opening and cross checking against sizing listed in our catalog.
Door Windows: Our sizing is based on steel door applications, for many fiberglass applications there will be a side view mirror or vent window deleted increasing the size requirements. Please verify part size needed by measuring opening and cross checking against sizing listed in our catalog.
Stock Size Kits: These windows are fabricated oversized to ensure the correct fit based off of the original glass template for the year and make of the vehicle. Stock size parts are generally cut up to 1” larger than the factory glass, some trimming will be necessary. All made with LEXAN® material.
Blank Kits: As a cost saving alternative, Clear 1 has developed a line of blank kits. These kits include material cut to the rough size for the replacement window, they are generally 2” larger than the factory glass and will require trimming for fit. All made with LEXAN® material.
Flat Sheet: Flat sheet is available for individual cutting and installation. All sizes are available in 1/8”, 3/16” and 1/4” thickness, with abrasion resistant LEXAN® MR10 coating and available in clear or tinted.
Formed Windows: These components are heated and formed to exact factory or template specifications to ensure fit. Windows with a thickness of 3/16” or greater and large radius bends should be formed in order to reduce stress during installation and add life to your window.
Flat - Cold Formed Windows: Windows made from 1/8” or 3/16” material without large radius bends are easily cold formed during the installation process.
Abrasion Resistant Coating: Standard polycarbonate if left uncoated will scratch fairly easily, our LEXAN® MR10 coated sheet provides for ten times the scratch resistance of standard polycarbonate.
Weight Savings: The most valuable benefit of Clear 1 polycarbonate is the enormous weight savings from factory glass, in standard applications polycarbonate can weigh 50 - 70 pounds less for a full set of windows. This top weight is the most effective weight reduction available. We have outlined per product the estimated weight savings for your car, this does not include additional savings from the removal of any associated hardware with the windows.
Safety: Glass is a brittle material. Polycarbonate has an impact strength ten times greater than that of automotive glass. Endorsed by sanctioning bodies - Many organizations have endorsed the use of polycarbonate windows for racing applications, and have made them a standard. These organizations have studied the benefits of polycarbonates in racing and consistently support their use.
All windows are cut oversize to allow for trimming. All coated windows are guaranteed for 5 years against yellowing, fading or cracking. Sizing based on 2 door steel bodied vehicles, please call for fiberglass bodied pricing.
